Redsn0w v0.9.12b1 is Available Now for Jailbreaking iOS 5.1.1
Popular the Dev team has just released their latest version of Redsn0w. This version (0.9.12b1) is capable of jailbreaking most of the iOS 5.1.1 devices on untethered mode. Even though another jailbreaking tool Absinthe is already out there for iOS 5.1.1 but the Redsn0w stands out because of it’s capability to let it’s user to create custom IPSW file for every single iOS devices. This method is very important, specially for those who wants to jailbreak their device without updating their baseband.
Now, preserving basedband is even more important for iPhone users because if anyone who is relying on Ultrasn0w based carrier unlock device, they must preserve their baseband before updating their device with newer iOS. For this instance it’s 5.1.1. However hardware based carrier unlockers (Gevey SIM users) don’t need to preserve their baseband.
The latest version of the Redsn0w includes few minor bug fixes. It also uses the same exploit that Absinthe used to jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 devices. So, if you already jailbroken your device using Absinthe, you really don’t need to use Redsno0w unless you are relying on carrier unlock. This version of Redsn0w also supports the same iOS devices as Absinthe did.
Supported Devices: iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad 1, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPod touch 3G, 4G and AppleTV 2.
