Mozilla Firefox 12 Gets Silent Release Without any Major Updates

Nearly five weeks after the release of Firefox 11, Mozilla just released the updated version of it which is Firefox 12. Interesting enough, Mozilla still didn’t push the update for its users, not at least when I am writing this post. Most of the cases Mozilla would push the latest version of it’s browser and the “Release Notes” would be available to find all the changes that has been made on the latest version. Somehow it’s bit different this time.

Visiting the official Firefox home page we found, Mozilla is still providing the download link of Firefox 11. On the other hand the “Firefox Beta” home page has the download link of Firefox 12 beta 6 version. Somehow we manage to find the download link for stable release of Firefox 12 for major operating systems. You can find the download links at the bottom of this post.

In terms of minimum requirements, on Future of Firefox blog, mozilla has confirmed that Firefox 12 would be the last version to support Windows 2000 operating system. From Firefox 13, the minimum requirements for Firefox would start from Windows XP which includes service pack 2. On the blog post Alex Keybl from Mozilla wrote, “this support change allows us to significantly improve Firefox performance on Windows by using a more modern build system. Windows XP users are advised to update to the latest service pack, and Windows 2000 users should consider upgrading ahead of the June release of Firefox 13.”

No matter whatever the operating system you are using, we strongly recommend you to update the Firefox for enhanced security updates and bug fixes.
