Facebook launches its own App Center

Today Facebook has launched their App Center for very few countries and also promised to make it available for rest of the world within next couple of weeks. On a newsroom release and on Developer Blog post, Facebook has confirmed the availability of their new addition for Facebook platform.

Facebook App CenterInitially, App Center would be available to everyone in the United States, Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. From today, users from all these countries will see the App Center bookmark on the left side of their home page. However, Facebook promises that in the coming weeks, they will launch the App Center to users in Brazil, France, Spain, Germany, Russia, Taiwan, and Turkey as well. App Center would also be accessible from Facebook aps for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.

Nearly a month ago, Facebook launched the App Center for the users in the United States which has already driven millions of installs to mobile devices, canvas and web apps.

Facebook stated that the App Center will list high-quality apps based on the user’s feedback and order them based on what a person is most likely to enjoy and the popularity in their country. They will show various app information in a person’s own language whenever it is possible. This also means people from all over the world can enjoy apps originally made in different languages.

To pave the way Facebook also launched “New Localization Tool” for developers. From the App Dashboard, developers can access this new feature to provide translation information (name, tagline, and descriptions) of their app’s. So that it can be used in the App Center across Facebook.

The company says that App Center traffic “produces better than average revenue per user for its games,” with War Commander and Battle Pirates seeing significant increases in users. Disney’s Marvel: Avengers Alliance is also seeing a lot more users, with Facebook gamers said to be the most engaged.
