Less than two months after acquiring “Instagram” for $1 billion, Facebook today launched their very own app to share your pictures from your mobile device to Facebook site. This app is being called as “Facebook Camera”. As of today this app is available only for iOS devices which includes iPhone and iPod touch. However, this app is also functional for iPads with camera which excludes the first generation of iPad. While trying to install this app on a first generation iPad, it simply denies to install displaying a message which says, “This App Is Incompatible with This iPad”.
Interesting enough, Facebook is yet to release native iPad app. Current app was made focusing on relatively smaller devices like iPhone and iPod touch. However, it has neither confirmed nor denied the possibility of having an Android app with the same functionality.
On a recent newsroom release, Facebook has also confirmed the availability of this app. Product manager of Facebook, Dirk Stoop wrote, “It’s also easy to edit photos with new tools like the ability to crop, rotate and add filters to any picture in your camera roll.”
This app promises to allow it’s users to upload bunch of photos at a time along with cropping and filtering them from your device. You can also tag your friends and add captions on those images. If you have the “Location Services” on from your device, you can also add the geographical location of the pictures taken from your phone’s camera.
“We have done a lot to improve the photo experience on Facebook.com — we have added high-res images, full-screen viewing. And while the team was doing that they were also focused on mobile, and making the Facebook photo experience better on mobile,” said Derick Mains of Facebook.
