If you are one of those MobileMe subscribers, you already should know that very soon Apple will shut down their MobileMe services as Apple gears up for their latest iCloud service.

MobileMe LogoLast year when Apple introduced iCloud, they offered MobileMe subscribers additional iCloud storage to switch their services. Apple also warned that the MobileMe service may no longer exist after June 30, 2012. So, that’s pretty much the deadline for MobileMe subscribers.

However, Japanese web site Mac Otakara just reported that the original date of MobileMe expiration has been extended to Septermber 30, 2012. Our recent visit to Apple’s MobileMe transition web page also reveals the same information. On frequently asked questions page Apple states,

MobileMe members with 20GB of purchased storage receive a complimentary iCloud storage upgrade of 20GB, and accounts with additional purchased storage (40GB to 60GB) receive a complimentary upgrade of 50GB after moving to iCloud. These free upgrades are good through September 30th, 2012. After that date, you can continue the upgrade at the regular price or let it expire and use the free 5GB plan.

Interestingly, Apple mentioned on their site that MobileMe core services has been completely rewritten and now it is a part of iCloud but surprisingly the new iCloud missed some of the existing MobileMe services like iDisk, Gallery and iWeb Publishing.

I understand and admire the fact that iCloud adds lot more features which will definitely help its users to increase their productivity but it’s always good to have certain features than cutting it off completely. So, the bottom line is, if you are a MobileMe subscriber you got little more extra time to organize your bag and baggage. You got no other choice than moving to iCloud. It’s your turn to make the ultimate decision. Good luck.
