Tornado hits New York
First of all, let me thank God for saving me from this deadly tornado. When I am writing this post, everything is over by now but tornado left it’s deadly footprint throughout Queens, Brooklyn & Staten Island which are among the five boroughs of New York City. I could see lots of photos, videos are available online that shows the destruction of the tornado. To be honest, I didn’t feel that much heat of the tornado as I was working in Manhattan while it took place, even though I have witnessed heavy rainfall in Midtown Manhattan.
I went to school early in the morning on September 16th, everything was just fine, except I was little later for my class. Well, my Professor didn’t curse me though for being late as I don’t do that everyday. I went to work right after my classes at around 4 p.m. till that time, I didn’t see anything unusual. Everything just changed at around 6 p.m. if I am not wrong. It became too dark all of sudden & started raining within couple of minutes. It was heavy rainfall but only for couple of minutes. Later on, when I arrived in Queens, it was totally different scenario. There was huge traffic on Broadway that connects Northern and Queens Blvd. I preferred to walk for a while rather than taking the train to see what’s going on. I didn’t see anything unusual in Jackson Heights area.
I just got to know from different sources and from some of my friends that it was worst in Forest Hills area in Queens, Bay Ridge area of Brooklyn and some area in Staten Island. I saw the photos and video clips of tree limbs which were fallen here and there, seems like it was a total mess. The worst part of all was the loss of the lady (Aline Levakis, 30) who was travelling from Pennsylvania along with her husband. It was tragic & really sad. My heart goes to her family. I know nothing can heal their pain, nothing can fill her loss but lets pray for her. God bless everyone.
