Thousands of New Yorkers Said NO to SOPA and PIPA
Bitter cold couldn’t stop thousands of New Yorkers today. Well, nothing really could at this high time. People from the best city in the World reminds you all once again, why they are best. They all came and raised their voice against the Proposed SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act) bill. Even though it was originally an “Emergency NY Tech Meetup” program but the agenda was pretty known for all from the very beginning. Along with 1,600+ registered participant, I saw people from the street were also joining the protest.
Last night after watching the Interview of Reddit’s Co-Founder Alexis Ohanian at TechCrunch, I decided to go to the meetup as well. I thought, nothing could be any better than physically appear in front of the Senator’s office at 780, 3rd Avenue and chant all together,”Hey hey, ho ho, SOPA PIPA got to go.” or may be “We want innovation, not stupid legislation.”
After the initial speech by some well known person of the society, we stayed their for hour or so and marched towards Times Square. It was really really good to see that people on our way showed their support either by chanting with us or by showing victory sign (V). I don’t want to discredit them who also joined with us.
As I was at the Meetup from the very beginning, I had the great opportunity to take some photos of this great event. It was special not only because of the gatherings but also for the day itself(January 18th). However, I uploaded some of my photos on our Official Facebook page that you can find from here.
I don’t want to make this post any longer. Just wanted to say, know more about SOPA, PIPA and spread the words. Guys, I am exhausted & my entire body hurts like hell. Did I forget to tell you that I lost my voice as well. Let’s say it once again “Hey hey, ho ho, SOPA PIPA got to go.” Oops!
