Software Review: PDFCreator
PDF (Portable Document Format) is a popular Document file format Created by Adobe Systems back in 1993. Ever since PDF has established itself as an Standard file format. Today, in this post I will focus on a PDF maker/converter software.
PDFCreator is a Free Windows application to create PDF files, literally from any Application that supports Printing option. Along with creating PDF files, this software supports a wide range of file format (PNG, JPEG, BMP, PCX, TIFF, PS, EPS, TXT, PSD, PCL, Raw and SVG) that you can create from the native document file.
The User Interface of this software is pretty much straight forward and has got no fancy makeup. It’s really easy to navigate through all the functions available form this software. Once you run this software, a small rectangular box will appear with very few button. You will find the option to add documents to create PDF and will show the current status of that file like the title of the document, when it was created, size of the file and so on.
However, PDFCreator has got very rich settings options, from where you create your custom Profile to configure various aspects of the file to be created manually. Such as, even though PDFCreatore creates PDF files, you can configure it to create Image files from the native file format. Of course you will have the option to setup the Resolution of the images that you are about to create which is a great thing indeed.
In terms of creating PDF files, you have the option to manually setup the Resolution (in DPI) as well as the Compatibility mode. Embedding native fonts will give you the impression of having the original Document regardless the availability of the font that was used on the original one.
As far as the security settings goes, you have an wide range of option. You can manually setup the Encryption Level (128bit AES Approx) and Password for better security. However, Allowing or Disallowing the user of the PDF file to copy or to Print the document will give you the absolute control over the file.
If you are not a native English speaker don’t worry, this software supports 45 different language other than English. So, I believe you are pretty much covered even if you don’t speak or understand English.
Oh, one more thing. When you are about to Print any file, the Built-In function will give you the option to attach the PDF file straight to your eMail application, which I found to be really useful if you want to share the PDF file with someone.
Another great thing about PDFCreator is that the software comes with a small utility software called Images2PDF. This very little software will give you the Option to create PDF file just by adding Images and maintaining fair quality. Personally, I found this to be really nice and handy software when you need to make Image based PDF files.
There are so many free PDF Converter out there. However, we were really impressed by the speed and ease of this Software. At a $0 price tag, thing can’t get any better than this. So, if you are looking for some free PDF Converter, you definitely should give a shot with PDFCreator. I am sure you won’t be disappointed.
