Recently Chronic Dev Team has released an app called “Corona” through Cydia for those who are still relying on Tethered jailbreak system on their iOS 5.0.1 devices. This app will let Tethered jailbreak users to make their device Untethered.
It means after installing this app on your device you can restart it without using redsn0w all the time. Today, in this post I will explain you how to use Corona for devices with iOS 5.0.1 installed on it.
Important Note: Please remember that Corona method works only on A4 chip based devices which Includes iPhone 4, iPad first Generation, iPod Touch 3G/4G only. A5 Chip based devices like iPhone 4S and iPad 2 are still not supported. So, Proceed with Caution. We will not be responsible for any Unexpected data loss or damage for your wrong doing.
Users Relying On iOS 5.0.1 Tethered Jailbreak
If your iOS devices (A4 Chip based) are relying on iOS 5.0.1 Tethered Jailbreak for some reason, you can make it Untethered right now. Steps are as simple as it can get. Here we go.
Step 1: Just simply launch your Cydia app and search for the Package “Corona”.
Step 2: Once found, tap on “Install” button and wait till it finishes its job.
Step 3: Manually restart your device. Your device should start on Untethered mode.
If for some reason you can’t make it Work. Try to restart your device on Tethered mode once again (using redsn0w) and remove the “Corona” app manually and then Re-Install it. This process should work without any Problem if it doesn’t work at first attempt.
Users Relying on Stock iOS 5.0.1
Step 1: Download the latest version of Redsn0w either for Windows or Mac from the links.
Step 2: Once downloaded, open the zip file and start Redsn0w. Select “Jailbreak” then check “Install Cydia”. Follow the onscreen steps to place your device into DFU mode.
Step 3: Wait as long as Redsn0w applies it’s full untethered Jailbreak. Once it’s done, your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch should reboot and start on Untethered mode.
Unlock Users
If your device is Relying on Ultrasn0w or Gevey SIM based unlock, you must create a “Custom IPSW” to preserve your Baseband. You can create a Custom IPSW from redsn0w. Always remember to save your SHSH blobs through TinyUmbrella before you take any attempt.
