Broadcom Launches First 5G Wi-Fi Chips

Broadcom 5g Wi-FiOn a Press Release published on Yesterday, Broadcom Corporation has confirmed that they Launched their First Gigabit Wireless chips. As the new standard, it would be called as 802.11ac (5G Wi-Fi) Chip which is designed for a broad range of product categories.

However, there is another Company named as Quantenna, is also claiming their part in this new Technology as they already came out with their new 5G Wi-Fi standard device.

Broadcom claims their new IEEE 802.11ac chips to be three times faster and up to six times more power efficient than equivalent 802.11n chips available in the Market right now along with improving the range of the devices. The 5G WiFi will help the users to load Web content, sync larger audio/video files even faster while using less Power resources.

Referring to the Cisco’s 2011 Visual Networking Index Forecast, Broadcom states, “The increased reliance on wireless networks, the explosion of video consumption and the growing number of wireless devices being used are all putting tremendous stress on legacy 802.11a/b/g/n networks. As a result, consumers are prone to experience deteriorated performance, choppy videos and slower load times.”

Broadcom is expecting more products based on the standard are to be on display at the International CES expo in Las Vegas next week. Broadcom’s family of 5G WiFi solutions includes the BCM4360BCM4352BCM43526 and BCM43516.

However, all the 5G WiFi solutions from Broadcom will support certain features like, 80 MHz channel bandwidth that is 2 times wider than current 802.11n solutions, 256-QAM, a higher modulation scheme that increases data transfer efficiency, Transmit and receive beamforming, Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) Codes and Space-Time Block Codes (STBC).
