WordPress introduces AdSense alternative WordAds

WordPress WordAdsFor many years Google’s AdSense program was one of the very best way to monetize blog & web sites. Whether it’s your personal blog site or even a community blog, you name it. But it seems like things are about to change, may be not today but for upcoming days.

Yesterday, WordPress announced it’s new partnership with Federated Media, which will allow free WordPress hosted blogs to monetize their sites through ads. WordPress named this program as WordAds. Hold on, don’t get too excited. Even though you can run your existing AdSense ads on your blog, it won’t be quite easy to get approved by Federated Media. Do you want to know why? It’s just because FM thinks you need to maintain certain standard on your blog site to be eligible to monetize your blog.

Here is what your blog should maintain before you can even apply for WordAds program.

  • Publicly visible blog site.
  • Certain level of traffic & engagement.
  • Type & quality of your Content.
  • Language of your blog.

Personally, I don’t think it would be quite easy for most of the WordPress bloggers who are thinking of applying for WordAds program. If I am not wrong, there are so many WordPress hosted blog sites are out there which were written in many different languages. Moreover, site traffic remains a huge factor. But if you still think you are good to go, click here to apply for this program.

WordPress founder Matt Mullenweg says:

Our primary goal is to create something that rewards bloggers for their hard work and the quality of their work, and do so at a higher level than generic Adsense would, not optimize around a particular revenue share. We stopped running Adsense on WP.com a few months ago. No plans for a .org plugin or supporting non-WordPress sites yet, but a plugin is definitely something we’ll consider in the future.

Well, Mr. Mullenweg was being quite optimistic about this programs but it’s just a matter of time to see, how successful this program really can be?

WordPress is growing everyday, as far as the statistics goes more than 50,000 web sites are going online nearly every day. I am a huge fan of WordPress & what else really could be a better example than this blog site? But the question remains, how realistic this program going to be at least in terms of the prerequisites that the blogger need to maintain? You decide.
