Can’t remember the exact date but it was nearly a month back. I was craving to install iOS 5 on my iPad. With all the new features of iOS 5, I was blown away. However, my excitement lasted for around a week or so.
As I was dying to install iOS 5 on my iPhone 4, I forgot to backup my contacts (200+) and some other very important files that I had on my iPhone. When I finished updating my iOS, I realized that the game is over. I lost every single contacts. I wasn’t worried about the files rather it was the contacts that killed me right there.
Guys, I understand that everybody is not stupid like me but definitely there are some people out there who suffered just like me. So, today I will be talking about a new app called “My Contacts Backup’ which is available at the iTunes store for about a month or so. This is the easiest contacts back up app for iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad.
How to Backup?
Go to the iTunes store from your iDevice & search with the keywords “My Contacts Backup” that’s it. Download the app and launch it. Tap on “Backup” button, at this point the app will automatically backup your contacts and save it as a (*.vcf) file. Once done, tap on “Email” button. All you have to do now is to mail the file to your email address. Bam.. you are done.
How to Restore?
In order to restore your contacts, you don’t even need this app. Just go to your email account’s inbox from your Mail app. Tap on the attachment file (*.vcf) that you send to your email address earlier on. Rest would be done automatically. From now on, I would definitely be using this app before updating my iOS for sure.
Note: Even though you can backup your contacts on (*.vcf) file, it is possible to export it as (*.csv) file. However, you can’t restore your contacts from (*.csv) file. File sharing features is available only on Pro version.
