There are no specific reason why I have chosen to write here(Blog). Don’t know even what to write. Sometimes I do feel so lonely, I feel there are so many things buzzing around my mind but couldn’t share with someone. Semester is over & enjoying my great(!) summer vacation. Nothing to do. So, I thought what’s wrong to write something that might not make any sense? Sometimes that might bring peace to your soul, at least I do feel that way.
I have a feeling inside me that it’s never been worthless to write or even to draw some lines in a white blank paper. Whenever it comes to your mind & whatever the topic it could be. What’s wrong even If I do write something that doesn’t make any sense at all? Who cares? Is that going to change the whole world even for a second? I guess your answer would be “NO”. But you know what, you are “WRONG”, yes you are absolutely wrong. Each & every words you are writing (online/offline), whether it does make any sense or not It’s very important. The way I see it as the contribution of a person towards the total achievement of human kind. For an example, with each and every keystroke, you are just adding one more alphabet/letter toward the total number of alphabets that human race ever wrote. Sounds weired? Well may be. You might not agree with this very true fact but I am ok with that.
Way back (thousands or more years) when human being didn’t know how to read or write it was pretty hard to exchange information. Since we have learned to write & read we started being educated from our past experience or events that we wrote as book. Time has changed, we are now smarter than ever before. We have invented so many ways to express our thoughts, feelings, ideas or information. Undoubtly technology paved that way for us. Is it good or bad that could be another topic to talk about but I wan’t to stick with my point.
Are you bored? Well, may be its very natural & easy to get bored because to find out the perfect way to enjoy & feed your very own soul was never been easy. I find writing as to feed my soul, I love & enjoy doing it. You might have different way of feeding your soul. Don’t forget to share it with me. I would be happy to know. Peace.

Google released it’s Chrome browser (beta) for Mac & Linux platform on Tuesday. After releasing Google Chrome last year for Windows platform, it took quite a long time to release it’s Mac & Linux version & still it’s not the final release. Product Manager Brian Rakowski also agreed that it took pretty long time even though they expected to release it little earlier. In a Blog post Mr. Brian said,”it took longer than we expected, but we hope the wait was worth it!.”
Macs are not widely used like Windows computers but still it’s a demanding OS for many computer users. Simplicity & stability of this OS made it as a rock solid Operating system for many years even though pricing was always been an issue. Chrome browser for Mac would be a native application for OS X rather than just trying to port it from Windows to Mac which will definitely be a great competitor of Mac’s native Safari browser. Even after all these, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer & Mozilla Firefox are still dominating the browser market. Firefox gained huge popularity within a very shot period of time because of it’s simplicity & availability of so many add ons. Seems like Chrome is also following the same footstep. As per Google’s Mac blog they had to write over 73 thousands of Mac Specific code to release this beta version. This simply shows an huge effort of Google to make it’s own space withing the Mac world. If you are a Mac user, you can try with Chrome from here. For more details on this beta release of Google Chrome for Mac, read on in the Google Mac blog or watch this video from one of Google engineers, Mike Pinkerton:
Now lets talk about Linux. It made it’s very own place as one the most Stable Open source OS for a long time. Many distribution & endless updates made this OS greater than any other. Still it’s not that much popular as the way Windows or Mac PCs are but needless to say Linux is developing everyday. Chorme’s introduction to Linux world would be an another step for Linux to dominate the OS market. Even though browser like Firefox is already available for Linux. As of Google’s own blog post most of their engineers are using Linux machines which basically shows that Google is taking Linux platform seriously. Like windows more than 300 extensions would be available for Linux version of Chrome. It won’t make any difference whether you are using a Windows or Linux machine. Artists Themes are also available for Linux too just like Windows. If you are using Linux, you can try Google Chrome from here.
Personally, I am an hardcore Internet user for long time. Starting from 1995, I have tried with so many web browser but couldn’t be happier than now when I am using Google Chrome. This is a Great browser no doubt about it but like many other software this is not the perfect one either. This beta release of Chrome for Mac & Linux would be a big challenge for Google, while they are getting ready to release their Chrome OS which is also based on Google Chrome browser.
Today Google is celebrating the Birthday of E.C. Segar (Elzie Crisler Segar), who was an American Cartoonist born in December 8, 1894. Mr. Segar is mostly known for his creation of famous cartoon character “Popeye“. In 1929, Popeye character first appeared in his newspaper comic strip ”Thimble Theater”. Segar got married with Myrtle Johnson in 1918, where he had two children. Segar died from liver disease in 1938, when he was 43. In his honor The National Cartoonist Society (Organization of Professional Cartoonists in the United States) created “The Elize Segar” award which is basically given to someone for his/her outstanding contribution to the Cartooning profession.
On their logo, Google changed it’s “G” with the “Popeye” character itself & “e” with a pot of Spinach. In 2009, Popeye character would be celebrating it’s own 80th Birthday too.
Computer maker Acer is Planning to launch their new Netbook with Google’s Chrome OS. It’s still in primary stage & we have to wait till mid 2010 to get the latest update. In an interview with Digitimes, Acer Chairman J.T. Wang said that he is “confident” that his company will be first out of the gate with Google’s Open-Source OS system pre-installed. Even though he didn’t confirm about any Specification of the Netbook, Price tag or Availability of their product.
Interesting enough that Acer was working very closely with Google to implement Chrome OS along with Asus, HP, Dell & Toshiba. None of these Company made any Official comment about Chorme OS yet.
Las month Google publicly demonstrated their Chrome OS & they are still working on it. Google didn’t confirm any specific date to release their final version of Chrome OS. As it’s an Open Source OS, codes are available in online for developers.
Intel Labs Researcher unveiled an experimental Silicon chip which is packed with 48 separate Processing cores. Intel defined this chip as “Single-Chip Cloud Computer” which boasts about 10-20 times the processing engines inside today’s Intel® Core™ branded Processors. This tiny chip contains 1.3 billion transistors which also includes high-speed on-chip network to share information. It comes with newly invented power management techniques that will allow this chip to run on 25 watts & 125 watts when operating at maximum performance.
Head of Intel Labs & Intel’s Chief Technology Officer Justin Rattner said, “With a chip like this, you could imagine a cloud datacenter of the future which will be an order of magnitude more energy efficient than what exists today, saving significant resources on space and power costs.”
In a press release Intel stated that,” It plans to build 100 or more experimental chips for use by dozens of industrial and academic research collaborators around the world with the goal of developing new software applications and programming models for future many-core processors.”
Software giant Microsoft showed it’s interest about Intel’s new invention. Microsoft’s corporate vice president of Extreme Computing, Dan Reed said,”Microsoft is partnering with Intel to explore new hardware and software architectures supporting next-generation client plus cloud applications”.
It’s fair enough to say that Opera Mini is one of the most popular Mobile Web Browser. I am not going in depth of about this Browser but certainly one thing that made this Browser great is, it works almost any mobile Phone that supports Java. Recently Opera has released the latest version Opera Mini which is v5 beta 2. I just installed this tiny little Browser on my Nokia E61i & it was really fun to use this Browser. Even though I am happy with Nokia’s very own Browser. There are some new features that Opera added with this version of Opera Mini which made it nearly a complete Web Browser. Tabbed Browsing, Speed Dial, Opera Link, Download Manager are the noticeable features that comes with new Opera Mini Browser.
To try Opera Mini 5 beta 2, visit m.opera.com/next from your mobile web browser. Or you can download it from your computer. To download & to learn more visit http://www.opera.com/mini/download.
I will post my review of Opera Mini very soon. Till that time stay tuned & Happy Browsing.
So here is something new coming up once again with their privacy policy. FacebLast night I logged into my Facebook Account & saw the Message above within the Snapshot. Facebook had just reached over 350 million user. In an Open letter Facebook Founder Mr. Mark Zuckerberg confirmed the world about this great news. I believe it’s a great news because I believe the more it grows the more we would be connected with each other. Ofcourse I am not going to throw away the “Privacy” issue from my brain. Within the last five year the world has changed a lot so does Facebook. Day by day Facebook added & improved lots of its tools to make people more open & connected.
Last night I logged into my Facebook Account & saw the Message above within the Snapshot. Facebook had just reached over 350 million user. In an Open letter Facebook Founder Mr. Mark Zuckerberg confirmed the world about this great news. I believe it’s a great news because I believe the more it grows the more we would be connected with each other. Day by day Facebook added & improved lots of its tools to make people more open & connected. Of course I am not going to throw away the “Privacy” issue from my brain. Within the last five year the world has changed a lot so does Facebook. Every time Facebook changed, privacy policy was always been an issue. In his letter Mr. Mark said that:
“Facebook’s current privacy model revolves around “networks” — communities for your school, your company or your region. This worked well when Facebook was mostly used by students, since it made sense that a student might want to share content with their fellow students. ..regional networks now have millions of members and we’ve concluded that this is no longer the best way for you to control your privacy. The plan we’ve come up with is to remove regional networks completely and create a simpler model for privacy control where you can set content to be available to only your friends, friends of your friends, or everyone.”
So here is something new coming up once again with their privacy policy. It’s true that Facebook is growing rapidly. It’s growing in such a way that probably anyone would find some of his friends in Facebook even if he/she doesn’t have any Facebook account & register right now to find some of them. But still I am not so sure that whether it’s truly logical to remove “Regional Network” or not.
December 1 of each year observed as World AIDS Day. This day had been dedicated to raise the awareness of about HIV/AIDS & to honor those persons who have died from this Disease. In an effort to show their support Google, Twitter, Facebook have added some special features on their sites.
Google have added a red AIDS ribbon below “Google Search” button. The link next to the ribbon directs to another page (www.google.org), where you will find nine different logo in three different category. Shows how a person can “Learn”, “Act” & “Give”.
Typical blue colored “Twitter” word became red to support the AIDS Day & added “JoinRED” link. The link takes to another page where everything is more likely red too. Here is the screenshot of Facebook’s “JoinRED” campaign page.
History of AIDS Day
According to Wikipedia, “First AIDS Day was observed on December 1, 1988. It was first conceived in August 1987 by James W. Bunn and Thomas Netter, two public information officers for the Global Programme on AIDS at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland”.
Since 1995, the President of the United States has made an official proclamation on World AIDS Day. It’s important to know that over 25 million people died between 1981-2007. As of 2007 over 33 million people were living with HIV/AIDS.
Ashley Towns, a 21 year old Australian hacker who wrote the iPhone worm “Ikee” has got a new job. Australian firm Mogeneration employed Mr. Town as an iPhone Application Developer.
What is Ikee?
As per BBC Ikee is “A self-propagating program that changed the phone’s wallpaper to a picture of 80s pop singer Rick Astley”. A worm that basically targets Jailbroken iPhone. By Jailbreaking an iPhone a user basically destroys the protection mechanisms of the phone & allows it to run any program, including those which are not approved by Apple.
Ikee itself is not a dangerous program but it created or paved the way for others to develop serious program that could be harmful. Recently another iPhone worm has discovered that targeted the people of Netherlands who are using their iPhone for Internet Banking with Dutch Online Bank ING.
